This medicine is generally considered safe for most people. Talk to your doctor if you have concerns.How to Use This Medicine:
Injectable
- Your doctor will give you this medicine through a needle into your retina.
- You may be given other medicines (including an oral steroid medicine) during treatment with this medicine.
- Your doctor may want you to lie down as much as possible for 24 hours after treatment.
Drugs and Foods to Avoid:
Ask your doctor or pharmacist before using any other medicine, including over-the-counter medicines, vitamins, and herbal products.
Warnings While Using This Medicine:
- Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, or if you have eye infections.
- This medicine may cause the following problems:
- Endophthalmitis (inflammation of the inside of the eye)
- Retinal problems, including a tear or hole in the eye
- Increased pressure in the eye
- Cataract
- Avoid air travel, traveling to places with high elevations, or scuba diving for at least 1 week.
- Be careful when handling your clothes or other materials that have been wet by your tears or nose secretions. This medicine may still be present for up to 7 days after treatment.
- Your doctor will check your progress and the effects of this medicine at regular visits. Keep all appointments.
Possible Side Effects While Using This Medicine:
Call your doctor right away if you notice any of these side effects:
- Allergic reaction: Itching or hives, swelling in your face or hands, swelling or tingling in your mouth or throat, chest tightness, trouble breathing
- Blurred vision or any change in vision, flashes of light, floating dark spots or material before your eyes
- Pain, irritation, or swelling in the eye
