Hydrocodone tannate/chlorpheniramine tannate (By mouth)

Chlorpheniramine Tannate (klor-fen-IR-a-meen TAN-ate), Hydrocodone Tannate (hye-droe-KOE-done TAN-ate)

There may be other brand names for this medicine.

You should not use this medicine if you have had an allergic reaction to chlorpheniramine or hydrocodone.

Your doctor will tell you how much medicine to use. Do not use more than directed.
This medicine is not for long-term use.
Measure the oral liquid medicine with a marked measuring spoon, oral syringe, or medicine cup. You should shake the oral liquid medicine just before measuring the dose.
Drink plenty of liquids to help avoid constipation.

Take a dose as soon as you remember. If it is almost time for your next dose, wait until then and take a regular dose. Do not take extra medicine to make up for a missed dose.

Store the medicine in a closed container at room temperature, away from heat, moisture, and direct light.
Keep all medicine out of the reach of children. Never share your medicine with anyone.
Ask your pharmacist, doctor, or health caregiver about the best way to dispose of any outdated medicine or medicine no longer needed.

Tell your doctor if you use anything else that makes you sleepy. Some examples are allergy medicine, narcotic pain medicine, and alcohol.
Do not drink alcohol while you are using this medicine.
Make sure your doctor knows if you are also using a monoamine oxidase (MAO) inhibitor (such as Eldepryl®, Marplan®, Nardil®, or Parnate®), medicine to treat depression (such as amitriptyline, doxepin, nortriptyline, Elavil®, Pamelor®, or Sinequan®), or other anticholinergic medicines (such as biperiden, oxybutynin, propantheline, tolterodine, Akineton®, Detrol®, or Ditropan®).

Make sure your doctor knows if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, or if you have lung disease or breathing problems, a recent head injury, severe stomach pains, problems with bowel movements, or if you have just had a surgery.
Tell your doctor if you have narrow-angle glaucoma, asthma, an enlarged prostate, liver disease, kidney disease, thyroid problems, Addison's disease, or problems with urination.
This medicine may make you dizzy or drowsy. Avoid driving, using machines, or doing anything else that could be dangerous if you are not alert.
This medicine contains phenylalanine. Make sure your doctor knows if you have a disease called phenylketonuria (PKU), which is a problem with making some amino acids.
Do not give this medicine to a child under 6 years old unless your doctor tells you to.
This medicine can be habit-forming. Do not use more than your prescribed dose. Call your doctor if you think your medicine is not working.
Call your doctor if your symptoms do not improve or if they get worse.
This medicine may cause constipation, especially with long-term use. Ask your doctor if you should use a laxative to prevent and treat constipation.

Allergic reaction: Itching or hives, swelling in your face or hands, swelling or tingling in your mouth or throat, chest tightness, trouble breathing
Chest tightness.
Problems with urination, or decrease in how much or how often you urinate.
Severe dizziness, drowsiness, or sleepiness.
Trouble breathing.
