When This Medicine Should Not Be Used:

How to Use This Medicine:

Capsule, Tablet, Tablet

• Your doctor will tell you how much medicine to use. Do not use more than directed.
• Take all of the medicine in your prescription to clear up your infection, even if you feel better after the first few doses.
• Missed dose: If you miss a dose and it is less than 4 hours, take it as soon as possible. If you miss a dose and it is more than 4 hours, skip the missed dose and take your next dose at the regular time. Do not use extra medicine to make up for a missed dose.
• Store the medicine in a closed container at room temperature, away from heat, moisture, and direct light.

Drugs and Foods to Avoid:

Ask your doctor or pharmacist before using any other medicine, including over-the-counter medicines, vitamins, and herbal products.

• Do not use this medicine together dihydroergotamine, ergotamine, pimozide, lomitapide, lovastatin, lurasidone, rilpivirine, or simvastatin. Do not use this medicine together with colchicine if you have kidney disease or liver disease.
• Some medicines can affect how this medicine works. Tell your doctor if you are using any of the following:
  • Alfentanil, allopurinol, bromocriptine, cilostazol, citalopram, clopidogrel, cyclosporine, dasatinib, digoxin, erlotinib, hexobarbital, itraconazole, ketoconazole, methylprednisolone, mycophenolate mofetil, nilotinib, omeprazole, phenobarbital, phenytoin, probenecid, quetiapine, sildenafil, St John's wort, tacrolimus, tadalafil, theophylline, tolterodine, valproate, vardenafil, vinblastine
  • Benzodiazepine or sedative medicine (including alprazolam, diazepam, midazolam, triazolam)
  • Blood pressure medicine (amlodipine, diltiazem, nifedipine, verapamil)
  • Blood thinner (including warfarin)
  • Insulin or oral diabetes medicine (including nateglinide, pioglitazone, repaglinide, rosiglitazone)
  • Iron supplement
  • Medicine to lower cholesterol (including atorvastatin, fluvastatin, pravastatin)
  • Medicine to treat heart rhythm problems (including amiodarone, disopyramide, dofetilide, procainamide, quinidine, sotalol)
  • Medicine to treat HIV infection (including atazanavir, etravirine, maraviroc, nelfinavir, ritonavir, saquinavir)
• Take zidovudine at least 2 hours before or after taking this medicine.

Warnings While Using This Medicine:

• It is not safe to take this medicine during pregnancy. It could harm an unborn baby. Tell your doctor right away if you become pregnant.
• Tell your doctor if you are breastfeeding. Your doctor may tell you to pump and throw away your breast milk during treatment and for 2 days after the last dose.
• Tell your doctor if you have kidney disease, liver disease, heart rhythm problems, nerve or muscle problem (including myasthenia gravis), or any kind of infection.
• This medicine may cause the following problems:
  • Serious skin reactions, including Stevens-Johnson syndrome, toxic epidermal necrolysis, acute generalized exanthematous pustulosis (AGEP), and drug reaction with eosinophilia and systemic symptoms (DRESS)
  • Heart rhythm problems, including QT prolongation and torsades de pointes
  • Liver problems
  • Increased risk of bleeding
  • Hypoglycemia (low blood sugar)
  • Myasthenia gravis (severe muscle weakness)
• This medicine may cause drowsiness, trouble with thinking, or trouble with controlling body movements. Do not drive or do anything else that could be dangerous until you know how this medicine affects you.
• Some men who use this medicine have become infertile (unable to have children). Talk with your doctor before using this medicine if you plan to have children.
• This medicine can cause diarrhea. Call your doctor if the diarrhea becomes severe, does not stop, or is bloody. Do not take any medicine to stop diarrhea until you have talked to your doctor. Diarrhea can occur 2 months or more after you stop taking this medicine.
• Tell any doctor or dentist who treats you that you are using this medicine. This medicine may affect certain medical test results.
• Call your doctor if your symptoms do not improve or if they get worse.
• Your doctor will do lab tests at regular visits to check on the effects of this medicine. Keep all appointments.
• Keep all medicine out of the reach of children. Never share your medicine with anyone.

Possible Side Effects While Using This Medicine:

Call your doctor right away if you notice any of these side effects:

• Allergic reaction: Itching or hives, swelling in your face or hands, swelling or tingling in your mouth or throat, chest tightness, trouble breathing
• Blistering, peeling, red skin rash
• Dark urine or pale stools, nausea, vomiting, loss of appetite, stomach pain, yellow skin or eyes
• Fainting, dizziness, lightheadedness
• Fast, pounding, or uneven heartbeat
• Itching or discharge in the vagina
• Severe diarrhea, stomach pain or cramps
• Severe muscle pain or weakness

If you notice these less serious side effects, talk with your doctor:

• Change or loss of taste
• Headache
