This medicine is not right for everyone. You should not receive it if you had an allergic reaction to triamcinolone, or if you have certain eye infections (including herpes simplex, smallpox, chickenpox, fungal, or mycobacterial eye infection).How to Use This Medicine:
Injectable
- An eye doctor will give you this medicine in a hospital or clinic. It is given as a shot into the eye.
Drugs and Foods to Avoid:
Ask your doctor or pharmacist before using any other medicine, including over-the-counter medicines, vitamins, and herbal products.
Warnings While Using This Medicine:
- Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, or if you have thyroid problems or a history of herpes infection of the eye.
- This medicine may cause the following problems:
- Serious eye problems (including cataracts, glaucoma, detached retina, eye infection or swelling)
- Endocrine problems (including HPA axis suppression, Cushing syndrome, high blood sugar)
- Your doctor will check your progress and the effects of this medicine at regular visits. Keep all appointments.
Possible Side Effects While Using This Medicine:
Call your doctor right away if you notice any of these side effects:
- Allergic reaction: Itching or hives, swelling in your face or hands, swelling or tingling in your mouth or throat, chest tightness, trouble breathing
- Color changes on the skin, dark freckles, easy bruising, muscle weakness
- Dry mouth, fruit-like breath odor, nausea, vomiting, stomach pain, tiredness, trouble breathing
- Pain, bleeding, redness, swelling, or increased pressure in the eye, blurred or change in vision, sensitivity to light
- Weight gain around your neck, upper back, breast, face, or waist
If you notice these less serious side effects, talk with your doctor:
- Headache
