How to Use This Medicine:

• Your health caregivers will show you how to test your blood sugar levels. Your doctor should tell you how often to test your blood and what your target blood sugar levels are.
• Read and follow the directions that come with your specific glucose test monitor, test strips, and lancet.
• Usually, you will use blood from your finger to do a blood sugar test. Some strips can also be used with blood from other sites (such as the side of the hand), but do not use another site unless the directions and your doctor say it is okay.
• Wash and dry your hands completely both before and after you do the test.
• Do not take a test strip out of the container until you are ready to do the test. The test strip might not give correct results if it is out of the container for more than a few minutes.
• Control solution: This is liquid that you can use to check your meter to make sure it works correctly. Always check the meter when you first use a new package of test strips.
• Do not bend, cut, or tear the test strip, and do not use the test strip if it has been damaged in any way.
• Use each test strip only 1 time.
• Throw away all of your used supplies carefully. Other people could get sick if they come in contact with used testing supplies.
• Store the test strips only in the original container at room temperature, away from heat, moisture, and direct light. Keep the lid closed. Do not store them in the freezer or refrigerator.
• Do not use the test strips after the expiration date on the container has passed.
• Keep all medicine out of the reach of children. Never share your medicine with anyone.

Drugs and Foods to Avoid:

Ask your doctor or pharmacist before using any other medicine, including over-the-counter medicines, vitamins, and herbal products.

• Tell your doctor if you take vitamin C, acetaminophen, or immune globulin.

Warnings While Using This Medicine:

• Tell your doctor if you have blood circulation problems, are on dialysis, or have gout.
• High temperatures and high humidity can change how the strips react. If you think your result might be wrong, do another test with a new test strip. You can also use the test solution to check the accuracy of your test strips. Call your pharmacist if you have questions.
• Use the test strips only with the brand of glucose test meter that they are made for. Your test results could be wrong if the test strips and meter do not work together.
