When This Medicine Should Not Be Used:

This medicine is not right for everyone. Do not use it if you had an allergic reaction to mirabegron.

How to Use This Medicine:

Liquid, Long Acting Tablet

  • Take your medicine as directed. Your dose may need to be changed several times to find what works best for you. This medicine usually works within 8 weeks after you start taking it.
  • Swallow the extended-release tablet whole. Do not crush, break, or chew it. Adults may take this medicine with or without food. Children should take it with food.
  • Oral liquid:
    • It is best to take this medicine within 1 hour with food.
    • Shake the bottle well just before taking each dose.
    • Measure the oral liquid medicine with a marked measuring spoon, oral syringe, or medicine cup.
  • Read and follow the patient instructions that come with this medicine. Talk to your doctor or pharmacist if you have any questions.
  • Missed dose: If you miss a dose and it is less than 12 hours from your regular schedule, take the dose as soon as you can. If you miss a dose and it is more than 12 hours, skip the missed dose and go back to your regular dosing schedule. Do not double doses.
  • Store the medicine in a closed container at room temperature, away from heat, moisture, and direct light.
  • Throw away any unused oral liquid 28 days after first opening the bottle.

Drugs and Foods to Avoid:

Ask your doctor or pharmacist before using any other medicine, including over-the-counter medicines, vitamins, and herbal products.

  • Some medicines can affect how mirabegron works. Tell your doctor if you are using desipramine, digoxin, flecainide, metoprolol, propafenone, thioridazine, or a blood thinner (including warfarin).

Warnings While Using This Medicine:

  • Tell your doctor if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, or if you have kidney disease, liver disease, high blood pressure, or bladder outlet obstruction (trouble urinating or a weak urine stream).
  • This medicine may cause the following problems:
    • High blood pressure
    • Urinary retention (trouble passing urine or not fully emptying the bladder) when used together with another medicine
    • Angioedema (severe swelling)
  • Your doctor will do lab tests at regular visits to check on the effects of this medicine. Keep all appointments.
  • Keep all medicine out of the reach of children. Never share your medicine with anyone.

Possible Side Effects While Using This Medicine:

Call your doctor right away if you notice any of these side effects:

  • Allergic reaction: Itching or hives, swelling in your face or hands, swelling or tingling in your mouth or throat, chest tightness, trouble breathing
  • Bloody or cloudy urine, lower back or side pain, difficult or painful urination
  • Blurred vision, headache, fast, pounding, or uneven heartbeat, lightheadedness, dizziness

If you notice these less serious side effects, talk with your doctor:

  • Constipation
  • Dry mouth, sore throat
