Mivacurium (Injection)

Mivacurium (mye-va-KYOO-ree-um)

There may be other brand names for this medicine.

You should not receive this medicine if you have had an allergic reaction to mivacurium.

Your doctor will prescribe your exact dose and tell you how often it should be given. This medicine is given through a needle placed in one of your veins.
A nurse or other trained health professional will give you this medicine.

Make sure your doctor knows if you are using medicine to treat infection (antibiotics) such as aminoglycosides, bacitracin, clindamycin, colistin, lincomycin, polymyxins, sodium colistimethate, or tetracyclines. Tell your doctor if you are also using lithium.
Make sure your doctor knows if you are using magnesium salts or medicine to treat heart rhythm problems such as procainamide (Procanbid®, Pronestyl®) or quinidine (Cardioquin®, Quinaglute®, or Quinidex®). Tell your doctor if you are using MAO inhibitors such as Eldepryl®, Marplan®, Nardil®, or Parnate®.
Make sure your doctor knows if you are using birth control pills or steroid medicine such as dexamethasone, prednisolone, prednisone, or Medrol®. Tell your doctor if you are using medicine to treat seizures such as phenytoin (Dilantin®, Depakote®) or carbamazepine (Tegretol®).

Make sure your doctor knows if you are pregnant or breast feeding.
Make sure your doctor knows if you have kidney disease, liver disease, heart disease, asthma, or blood vessel disease.
Make sure your doctor knows if you have cancer or muscle disease such as myasthenia gravis.

Allergic reaction: Itching or hives, swelling in your face or hands, swelling or tingling in your mouth or throat, chest tightness, trouble breathing.
Dizziness.
Fast, slow or uneven heartbeat.
Fever, sweating, confusion, or muscle stiffness.
Flushing.
Lightheadedness or fainting.
Trouble breathing or wheezing.
